“We’re proud to provide these scholarships to deserving students who are working to further their education for a greater purpose within the insurance industry,” said Richard Jungman, VP, Fraternal Industry Leader. “Promoting diversity within the insurance industry provides benefits in more ways than one and helps bring people of all backgrounds together to support an inclusive work environment.”

To be considered for the scholarship, students must be a member of a Holmes Murphy Fraternal Practice client organization; in good standing with their organization; currently enrolled as an undergraduate full-time student; and pursuing an undergraduate degree in Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Marketing, Communications, Insurance and Risk Management, or interested in the insurance industry. Students submitted a resume, transcript, and answered an essay question as part of the application process.

“I am deeply honored to be a recipient of this scholarship, which supports my academic and professional aspirations and reinforces my dedication to fostering diversity and inclusion,” said Ajoi Adams with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. of Howard University. “This opportunity empowers me to continue amplifying underrepresented voices and advocating for meaningful change within my community and beyond.”

“Healthcare’s greatest strength lies in its ability to serve all communities equitably. Yet, systemic disparities rooted in race, gender, socioeconomic status, and age continue to define health outcomes for underserved populations, often revealing the weakest links in our system,” said Miraj Ahmed with Phi Delta Epsilon Medical Fraternity of Rutgers University – New Brunswick. “Throughout my undergraduate journey, I have witnessed how these inequities persist across diverse health systems, underscoring the urgent need for solutions grounded in inclusivity and accessibility. As an aspiring physician-researcher, my goal is to bridge these gaps by leveraging geospatial and epidemiological data to illuminate disparities and inform actionable, equity-driven policies. The Holmes Murphy Diversity Scholarship fuels this mission, enabling me to further my education and drive meaningful change. Diversity is not merely an ideal—it is essential to the evolution of healthcare. This scholarship strengthens my resolve to create a future where innovation and inclusivity work hand in hand to ensure health equity for all.”

“This scholarship program began in 2022 to create greater awareness of the opportunities in the insurance industry and within Holmes Murphy,” said Jungman. “We’re proud to be just a small part of these students’ lives and are excited to be able to give them scholarship funds to put towards their tuition.”
