The purpose of this position is to work closely with the Sales, Placement and Service teams to fact find, assemble, and proactively market qualified prospects of new and specific complex renewal business for management liability and cyber coverages. They will be an expert resource to Holmes Murphy professionals supporting their knowledge in these lines of insurance, as well as be a team player and industry expert and create and support learning opportunities within Holmes Murphy. The position will strive to continuously add value and make Holmes Murphy better at Executive Risk & Cyber insurance programs.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, market complex new and renewal Executive Risk & Cyber business in conjunction with designated sales teams to include:
- Collect all necessary information and analyze the current program, which at times involves contacting the prospect or insured after a visit or introduction has been made.
- Order applicable underwriting reports as needed.
- Complete online rating if necessary.
- Prepare coverage proposal and premium displays.
- Document required underwriting information.
- Oversee the preparation of submissions to include applications and various support documents.
- Favorable presentation of the account to the insurance carriers, and to proactively work in obtaining a compelling program.
- Prepare a proposal which complies with HMA coverage standards with input from the sales team.
- Effectively communicate/present marketing results to prospects and clients
- Lead account strategy specific to client needs and participate in renewal strategy and ART meetings and the preparation of such materials, as well as additional client meetings on an as needed basis.
- Maintain an organized marketing file with the assistance of designated support staff.
- Deep understanding of various insurance policy types, including but not limited to: D&O, EPL, Fiduciary, E&O, Crime, K&R, Cyber, etc.
- Research information in response to both internal and external customers.
- Perform special projects as identified by the VP, Practice Leader or the Specialty Practice Leader.
- Attend Agency meetings as well as internal and external training as required.
- Able to analyze and audit complex Executive Risk placements in order to identify areas of opportunity for improvement in risk transfer.
- Compare requested coverage to the coverage quoted by carriers.
- Schedule and lead client meetings as needed.
- Provide answers, solutions, or direction to questions or concerns by sales team, service team, prospects and underwriters in a courteous and timely manner.
- Develop/maintain effective communication and relationships with company underwriters and industry leaders to stay ahead, and be knowledgeable of, industry trends. This includes building trust with external partners and client experience team in order write business. This includes meeting with underwriters when they visit the office, as well as attending social events before or after work hours.
- Overall market knowledge, including but not limited to: Agency, Carrier, Reinsurance, Risk Financing, Loss Control, Claims, etc.
- Ability to create customized coverage form suites unique to clients and provide options for additional protection.
- Ability to explain coverages to producers and clients.
- Cross-sell and up-sell insurance products.
- Drive revenue growth by engaging with producers on new opportunities including reviewing prospects in new business pipeline, identifying where expertise can assist, and accelerating opportunities to wins
- Understands agency and carrier operations and relationship with multiple years of handling own accounts.
- Competitive knowledge of carriers and wholesalers and knowledge of underwriters/coverage offerings at key carrier partners.
- Develop long-term productive relationships with direct carrier partners and wholesale intermediaries.
- Provide internal and external thought leadership and promotion through external speaking engagements, social media blogs, and professional societies/networks/associations.
- Serve as a resource to assess limits and current policies to ensure programs are tailored to clients’ needs.
- Raise the Executive Risk and Cyber lines of insurance awareness, competency, and proficiency of Sales, Service, and Placement teams through coaching on client service strategies and products.
- Create, implement, and keep updated coverage specific endorsement suites by carrier to ensure we are offering broadest possible coverage with consistency.
- Performs special projects and other duties as requested.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Insurance Designation (ARM, CPCU, CRM, etc.) recommended.
- Excellent knowledge of Executive Risk and/or Cyber Liability and the ability to apply that knowledge in the performance of job duties.
- Knowledge of marketing and negotiation strategies and the ability to apply that knowledge in developing and maintaining strong company relationships to ensure successful placement of client risk is required.
- Excellent customer service skills, excellent verbal/written communication skills, and ability to complete job duties in a professional and timely manner.
- Detail orientation and problem-solving ability. Accuracy is a major component.
- High level of organizational ability; able to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability and willingness to consistently participate in internal and external educational opportunities to enhance knowledge of current insurance topics or relevant system improvements.
- Ability and willingness to pursue a technical designation and/or continuing education, as appropriate.
- Must be knowledgeable of and comply with HMA’s Client Privacy Policy, HIPAA regulations and E&O procedures and policies.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma; college degree preferred.
- Licensing: Active state specific Property Casualty Insurance agent’s license required or the ability to acquire license within three months of hire.
- Experience:Minimum 7 years experience preferred in commercial insurance agency or company underwriting performing insurance placement/insurance marketing responsibilities.
