It is with a heavy heart we share news regarding the loss of our former Holmes Murphy Chairman & CEO and friend, Doug Reichardt. Doug started his career in 1976 with Holmes Murphy as a Property Casualty intern, spent many successful years in sales, and was named Chairman & CEO in 1993. Doug’s impact spanned the entire organization, and he was incredibly passionate about perpetuation and ensuring Holmes Murphy would continue its mission of serving our clients as a privately held organization through internal perpetuation. Doug officially retired from Holmes Murphy in 2009, but his influence will always leave a lasting footprint on our organization.

If you knew Doug, you also knew his life wasn’t fully complete without ensuring others were cared for through mentoring, creating space for others to succeed, and philanthropic giving. Doug approached everything he did with positivity, grit, and determination and was a great role model for all. Those who had the pleasure of knowing Doug are better for it.

Through this loss, we can all be inspired by Doug’s leadership of Holmes Murphy and legacy. His example of serving others first, facing challenges with grace, and living each day better than the day before are the very things that will make Holmes Murphy a stronger, better team.
